Our Summer in Photos

By: Kristen Darkow

I’m finding it so hard to believe that we’re in our last “official” week of summer. Come September 23, it’s fall! I say every year that the summer flew by, but this really had to have been the fastest summer of my life. Today, I’m sharing a whole bunch of random photos from this summer. Enjoy!

In May, Andrew and I met up for lunch on a random work day. He works near the Wisconsin State capitol building, so we grabbed some Subway and had a picnic on the capitol lawn. Look at those tulips! I remember feeling so happy to be sitting in the sunshine – this was one of the first really nice days of the season, and it felt so exciting to know we had three more months of summer. Boy, did that go fast.

Storm sometimes decides to join us on the couch and snuggle. On that rare occasion, a photo is necessary. Warning: the rest of this post contains many many many dog photos. 🙂

June was obviously pretty eventful, with our wedding on June 1 and honeymoon June 7-15. I’ll spare you any photos from that stretch since I’ve shared about it only 50 times since then.

We made a few trips home. Storm loves going to visit his grandparents!

We were in Spain and Ireland on Andrew’s 30th birthday, so we “formally” celebrated the occasion when we got home. Here he is with his Banana Bread Cheesecake! Find the recipe here.

We golfed a few times this summer!

In late June, Andrew and I went to a Brewers game with both of our families! We all tailgated beforehand and it was a blast. And very hot.

We celebrated the 4th of July by going to Summerfest. It’s our 4th of July tradition to take a family photo…Here is this year’s:

and 2018…

and 2017…

We haven’t changed a bit, have we?

Later in July, we grilled out at our friends, Shawn & Sydney’s house. This is their 1-year-old english mastiff, Moose.

We golfed some more…

And went to a Madison Mallards baseball game with Storm. Bark in the Park!

He was happy. 🙂

Summer is Storm’s prime shedding season. Can you tell where our blanket was?

And Storm and I went to watch a few of Andrew’s softball games!

Storm took some precious naps. 🙂

And we went home to visit my parents and hang out with Harvey!

Amanda and I had a sewing day with her mom. Amanda will share more about this later. Stay tuned!

And Andrew and I flew to Florida on the tiniest plane ever.

See? This guy had to duck!

I went home to my parents’ house again in August, and hung out with my grandpa and dog Harvey!

Love this guy!

It’s always nice to come home to Storm. 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, Andrew and I went to our favorite sports bar to watch the first Badgers game of the season. I’m still working on getting him on the Badger bandwagon. 🙂

My nephew, Dane, was born on September 6.

One of our favorite things lately is making popcorn for our trashy TV nights.

This past weekend, my parents and brother came down to Madison to stay with us! We tried a new spot – The Lone Girl Brewing Company in Waunakee! It had this awesome rooftop with live music and a fire pit. The atmosphere, food, and beer were all awesome!

Then we went down to Illinois to celebrate my niece Maddie’s third birthday and get some baby snuggles in!

So there’s my Summer 2019 photo dump! It’s been one of the busiest, best summers ever and I’m so bummed it’s coming to an end, but looking forward to all of the fun things in our future!

  1. I agree… fastest summer ever! It was full of highlights, which made it awesome, but made it go even faster: Two weddings, the birth of a grandson, class reunion, family reunion, two work trips, a Brewers game, River Falls Days, a few golf outings and several trips “down south!”
