This past week/weekend was a busy one! As some of you know, I’m originally from South Dakota. We rarely make it back there since our family is all in MN, but this year we made plans to go to South Dakota to visit some friends. They had come out to visit us quite a few times already so we really wanted to make it out their way.
The week was full of fun! In the evenings once the kids were in bed, we spent time playing cards and having a fire. It was nice to relax and just visit with each other. Brian and I learned two new games. One was a card game called Dutch Blitz which was a blast! So much so that we bought it for ourselves. The second was a game called Beanboozled. This one is not for those with a weak stomach. If you’ve never played, it’s a game with a spinner and a bunch of jelly beans. The spinner lands on a space with two flavors of jelly beans. The one that sticks in my mind is chocolate pudding or canned dog food. So for that one I had to pick a brown jelly bean but didn’t know which flavor I was getting. I got canned dog food and you are supposed to suffer through and eat it. Well, I couldn’t…I spit it out so fast! But even with the gross flavored jelly bean it was a fun game.
During the day we ran around with the kids. The first day we went shopping in Sioux Falls and got the kids matching outfits from Old Navy because why not?! Then we made our way to a park and a lake where we hung out for a bit since it was plenty hot outside.
The next day we went to Skyzone for toddler time. This was a big trampoline park with a rock wall and warped wall like in America Ninja Warrior. Everyone had a great time and I even made it up the warped wall. I definitely wasn’t graceful but I made it!
Next it was time to move on to MN. We got to spend time with our grandparents and aunts and uncles. We had fun playing cards and visiting during the day. Then at night we grilled out, played some bocce ball, and played another game that Andrew and Kristen found. It of course was a hit!
It was a busy and exhausting week/weekend but I wouldn’t have traded it for anything! Making memories with good friends and family is my favorite!
What is the most recent trip you’ve been on? What’s your favorite thing to do when visiting family and friends?
