Summer is flying by! Growing up, we always measured the halfway point of summer by River Falls Days, the annual summer celebration in my hometown of River Falls. And, friends, River Falls Days 2019 is in the books. Andrew and I headed home to spend the weekend with my family and friends, and it was such a great time! Today, I’m recapping the trip for you all.
River Falls Days 2018 was hard to beat – Andrew proposed last year on July 13! But we started off our trip on our “Engagiversary” by golfing at the same course he proposed on, wearing the same clothes we wore last year (we’re so weird, I know).
And here was last year:
See? We’re weird.
After golf, we went to watch my brother in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament that he and his friends play in each year. Storm and Harvey were happy to be outside, but they were smart enough to stay in the shade on this very hot day. 🙂
Later, we went back to my parents’ house and laid outside in the back yard with the dogs, and then my family grilled out for dinner. Few things make me happier than a brat/burger/hot dog off the grill, some potato salad, and a nice summer night. 🙂
After that, Andrew and I met up with some of my friends downtown for drinks and a street dance. It’s always good to catch up with high school friends! I forgot to take a single picture that night. 🙁
When we woke up on Sunday morning, this is how we found each of the dogs. That’s what plenty of fresh air the day before will do to ya. 🙂
We spent Sunday morning visiting my sweet Grandpa! He’s 90 years old and the sweetest thing ever. I love him so much and don’t get to see him often enough, so it’s always great just soaking him up for a couple hours. 🙂 In this photo, I was showing him our honeymoon photos on my phone.
We had to come back to my parents’ house and gather up our things, because it was already time to go! When we got back, Rodger Federer and Novak Djokavic were in their fifth set at Wimbledon, so we had to stay just a bit longer to watch the end of that match. It was so crazy – professional players are so impressive! The pups laid down with me to watch.
We drove back to Madison and sat in traffic a bit, and then went to Andrew’s softball game. After that busy weekend, Storm was WORN OUT and happy. See below. 🙂
I always love River Falls Days weekend, seeing my family and friends, and the pride everyone has for our town. Already looking forward to next year!
