I know the latest trend is to “Marie Kondo” your house. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a Netflix show (that I haven’t seen), about decluttering your home by getting rid of things you don’t need and organizing the things you do need. I’m sure it’s a great show and very inspirational (based on the number of people I’ve seen declutter their houses since watching it), but the very thought of watching someone go room by room decluttering and organizing gives me heart palpitations. And yet, here we are.
I will preface this blog post by saying I fully intended on writing a post on DIY window boxes. I even went to Home Depot to get some wood and flowers. But then, yesterday, it snowed. On April 27, the day I fully intended on planting flowers and hanging window boxes, it snowed. So I had to improvise.
I’ll be moving in to Andrew’s house once we’re married in a month, and we’ve been trying to figure out ways to make room for all of my belongings…including my car! So, Andrew and I spent the day organizing his garage so that there’d be room for me to park my car in there. Here are some before and after shots!
Look how much room we made on the right side of the garage for my car!
…and in the back of the garage!
Not too bad for a day’s work, right? After completing the garage, we were inspired to organize the inside of the house too. We love to collect board games, and our stash was getting a little out of control. So here’s that transformation!
I gotta say, getting organized was a lot more fun than I would have thought. Which is good, because we have a lot more decluttering to do if I’m going to move my things in a month!
