Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. This post is a day late because Amanda and I were out of town for a long weekend with family, so hopefully you didn’t miss us too much. 🙂
Today, I’m chatting about my makeup and skincare routine and the products I use. I am not an expert about makeup or skincare and feel 0% qualified to be doing this, so bear that in mind when reading this. But, I personally always love to hear about the products people use and how they use them, so hopefully it’s at least a little bit interesting for you too!
When it comes to skincare, this is a fairly new thing for me. I’m a bit ashamed to say I’ve never really had much of a skincare routine until recent years, but as I notice the onset of some wrinkles, I’m suddenly finding it a bit more necessary! Ha. Taking a moment to apologize to my college self, who slept in makeup and never once moisturized.
Here are some of the products I use today:

I use Garnier’s SkinActive line for most of my skincare products these days. This Micellar Cleansing Water has been great for removing makeup and leaves my face feeling really nice and clean at the end of the day.
This Deep Pore Exfoliating Scrub has been great as well! I just use it in the shower with my…
Now for moisturizing. Clearly I’ve really been loving the Garnier SkinActive products.
I really love to use this Soothing 3-in-1 Face Moisturizer with Rose Water at nighttime. Its texture isn’t really creamy like most moisturizers, but almost more waxy. I know that doesn’t necessarily sound like a good thing, but it really feels like it’s soaking in and moisturizing my face rather than just sitting on top of my skin. It’s also able to be used as a face mask, just by applying a thick layer and washing it off after 10 minutes.
I’ve been using the Glow Boost Illuminating Moisturizer in the mornings underneath my makeup. It’s a tiny bit tinted and very glowy, so it also would be a great replacement for foundation altogether. I’m thinking it will be my go-to foundation in the summer. 🙂
Now for makeup! Again – I am no expert, but this is what is currently working for me. I’m also always curious about other brands and types of makeup, so I switch it up often. What is pictured below is not what I used a year ago, and probably isn’t what I’ll use a year from now. Exploring new makeup is too fun to stick to just one!
So, my current routine is mostly drugstore makeup. I love to make trips to Ulta or Sephora and explore the more high-end makeup, but I’ve yet to find some that I love enough to stick with and commit to paying the higher prices for. This drugstore makeup has worked great for me, and is about 1/4 the cost of some high-end makeup.
I currently use the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation, and then I add a layer of the Fit Me Matte + Poreless powder over the top of it. I add some of the Milani Baked Blush to my cheeks, and a little of the NYX Away We Glow Liquid Booster to my cheekbones. I spray over the top of all of that with a finishing spray. My current finishing spray is the Rimmel Stay Matte Fix & Go, and it works great!
After the finishing spray dries, I add my mascara. Right now, I use Maybelline’s Colossal Volum’ Express and love it. But again, my mascara was different a month ago and will be different in a couple more months. On some days, I finish off the look with Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the color “Perla”. This lipstick really does last longer than any other brand I’ve tried – definitely recommend!
So there you have it! I spend a very minimal amount of money on the products I use, but I think plenty of girls are in the same boat and are always looking for recommendations and ideas, so there are mine. 🙂 What are your go-to skincare and makeup products? I’d love to get some new ideas! Share in the comments below!
