I don’t know that I’ve ever done a post about what’s going on in my world so I thought why not give it a try. The winter weather is hopefully starting to come to an end and warm weather is around the corner. With warmer weather comes more opportunities to get out and do things. Come summer time things just seem to pick up and get busy. So I’ll fill you all in on what’s been happening around here.
Current successes would first of all be keeping the kids happy, healthy and alive. I think most any parent or guardian can agree that is a feat all on its own. So give yourself a pat on the back if you are currently succeeding in that department.
The next major success has been getting our entry way, dining room and living room completely redecorated. If you saw my post from the other week I had a sneak peak of what I’ve been doing with the help of Emily from Natural Nifty. The transformation has been amazing. Our area is much more functional and enjoyable to hang out in now!
You can’t have success without struggles right? Lately I have been really struggling with meal planning and just staying organized. The week goes so much smoother when I meal plan but I just haven’t been disciplined enough lately to stay on top of it. So my short term goal is to definitely make this more of a priority!
Let’s talk about another struggle that was all new to me. Postpartum depression and anxiety. Yep, that happened. I never dealt with it with Ella who was our first, but this time around with Porter, the postpartum depression and anxiety hit hard. I didn’t recognize it right away but when I did I knew I had to do something.
It can look different for everyone but for me I was so overwhelmed by simple day to day tasks and the thought of leaving the house made me so anxious. I was also getting frustrated with the kids much more easily. Brian, my husband, was definitely amazing during this time. During the day I just felt like everything was falling apart with myself and the housework. Brian would come home and have to pick up all the pieces. He never complained or asked why things weren’t done. He just did it and for that I am so thankful for having him to share this life with.
Once I realized there was something more going on I was able to talk to my doctor and get things back on track. I’m happy to say things improved rather quickly and are mostly back to normal! I guess that can count as somewhat of a success then too!
Okay, now some fun stuff! Coming up rather quickly is Kristen and Andrew’s wedding! Which means there is a bridal shower to plan. I’ve already been having fun getting things together for that! Then of course there will be a bachelorette party and the wedding which I’m looking forward to!
Later in the year Brian and I are hoping to take another trip to the Twin Cities for my birthday. We are going to explore more of the downtown area and check out some more craft beer places.
And much later down the road in February 2020 we are going on a cruise with aunts and uncles and cousins from my family. Cruises themselves are fun but it’s going to be even more fun with a bunch of family! Anyone else think getting shirts made is a must? I’m thinking it will have to happen. 🙂
Well that sums up everything that has been going on here. What have you been up to lately? Have any big plans you’re looking forward to? Any vacations? Let us know in the comments!
