We’re a couple months into the Eat, Drink and B Crafty brand, and though we’ve given out a few details here and there, this is our first “get to know us” post. Most of you know at least one of us, but for those who don’t, we thought we’d post a few essential facts about each of us (aside from our obvious love of crafting). Here we go:
5 Facts About Kristen:
- I’m getting married…
…to Amanda’s brother! Andrew and I have been together for just over two years now, and this past summer, he proposed on a golf course! Our wedding date is June 1, 2019, and we’ll head off to Spain shortly after! As you can imagine, we are in the thick of wedding planning – but so far, the stress level has been kept to a minimum. Just excited. 🙂
- I love to travel!
I have been to a good chunk of the states, including Hawaii (when I was about 2 years old…I think I’m due for another visit!). My first trip abroad was to Norway to visit some distant cousins, and we drove into Sweden for a day. A year after that, my family and I drove up to Canada for the weekend to check off country #3. In college, I studied abroad in London, and took weekend trips to Norway, Netherlands, Ireland and Wales. A few years ago, my family and I took a vacation in San Diego and drove into Tijuana, Mexico and that made for my 8th country!
- I love sports.
I have two older brothers, so I grew up tagging along to all of their basketball, baseball and football games. I’m a huge Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan! I also had two sports journalism internships in college – one where I reported on high school baseball and football games, and another where I wrote news articles about Division I college football. And I played collegiate tennis! So yes, sports are a big part of my life.
- Animals are my weakness.
The dog park is my happy place – there’s nothing better than being greeted by dogs of every shape and size when you walk through that gate! I’ve also been known to shed a tear or two over goats and teacup pigs.
- Family is #1.
I feel so blessed to have the greatest parents and brothers. 5 years ago, I gained the best sister-in-law, and she and my brother are now parents to Madison, my two-year-old niece! And now, I am lucky enough to be gaining Andrew’s amazing family as well, including his wonderful parents, awesome sister (hi, Amanda), brother-in-law, precious niece and nephew Ella and Porter, and countless aunts, uncles and cousins! Life is good. 🙂
5 Facts About Amanda:
1. I am a stay at home mom.
In 2015 we had our daughter Ella and we decided I would stay home with her. I hadn’t always planned on staying home with my kids. I guess until I was in that situation I wasn’t sure what I would want to do. But once she came along we knew it was the best decision for our family. Sure I miss my old job and all of the people there but I wouldn’t trade getting to spend the days with my kiddos either!
2. I teach English to children in China.
Yep, you read that right! I work for a company called VIPKid. When I first came across it I was skeptical and wasn’t sure it was a legit job. Because, let’s be honest, most work-at-home jobs are usually not quite what they say they will be. But the more I looked into it the more I realized it was legit and would be perfect for me! So now I teach 3-6 year olds English on the weekends, in the evenings, and occasionally early in the morning. I’ve been doing it for a year now and it’s the best! If you think you want to give it a try, sign up with my referral link and I’d be happy to mentor you through the interview process. Full disclosure, if you would get hired I would get a one time bonus.
We decided to cloth diaper because it would be a huge cost savings. Since I was going to be staying home we were finding ways to save money and that was one way I felt we could. And thankfully my husband is pretty supportive of most of my crazy ideas so he was on board to give it a shot. It was overwhelming at first with all of the options but I love our cloth diapers and find it just as easy as using disposables. The only extra step is washing the diapers but once I had a routine down for that it wasn’t bad at all. My favorite place to get our cloth diapers are from The Fluffy Penguin. She has the best prices and customer service I’ve found so far. And you can’t beat all of the cute prints!
I am originally from South Dakota. That is where I was born and raised. My parents are both originally from Minnesota, so naturally I became a Vikings fan and not so naturally my brother became a Packers fan…we still wonder how that happened. 😉 So how did a Vikings fan end up in Packer Country? Well I wasn’t happy with my job in South Dakota and I had a good friend in Wisconsin that encouraged me to move out to Wisconsin. My first reaction was “you are crazy!” And then I started thinking it wouldn’t hurt to look. So in a whirlwind of events, I applied, interviewed and got a job out in Wisconsin. It was the best decision I ever made! And I love football season so now I watch the Vikings and the Packers play but my heart will always be with the Vikings.
So I wasn’t always a Disney lover. I mean sure, I liked Disney, but I didn’t fully comprehend the full magic of Disney, more specifically Disney World. When I met my husband, I soon learned that they loved Disney. They try to do family vacations in Disney World every few years. It’s really like a second home and I believe is the happiest place on earth! My in-laws gifted us 3 nights in Disney World for part of our honeymoon and ever since, I can’t get enough. It truly is a magical place!
