Tuesday Talk: 12 Rambling Thoughts

By Kristen Finstad

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

While our blog will cover plenty of crafting, cooking, and home improvement projects, we also want to make sure we cover some everyday life. I always think reading these writing prompts are a lot of fun, so I thought I’d take a stab at it myself. Here we go!

  1. What I’m eating this week:
Chili! If you know me, you know that I’m all about those easy (but healthy) recipes. I typically cook something at the beginning of the week and eat it all week long (life of a one-person household, am I right?). This week I threw some ground turkey, chili beans, black beans and stewed tomatoes into a crock pot and called it a day. It’s delicious and so easy to pack up for my lunch at work! I’ve, of course, been having my two-ingredient bagels for breakfast, plus a protein shake for my after-workout dinner.
  2. What I’m reminiscing about:
    My niece’s 2nd birthday party!

Madison turned two on Sep. 13 and we celebrated accordingly. I only get to see her every couple of months, so I always soak it up and re-live it through photos for at least the next two weeks. 🙂

Amanda made this adorable birthday board with her Cricut – how cool is that?! It was a huge hit at the party! Also reminiscing about a fun trip to South Dakota a couple weekends ago. Andrew and I went back and got to see several of his high school and college friends, and I even went to my first SDSU football game! It was so much fun and I already can’t wait until our next trip.

  3. What I’ve been up to:
Working, working out, eating, sleeping, and a little bit of fun in between. 🙂 Our weekends have been packed full of family time, football games, wedding planning and random errands, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
  4. What I’m dreading:
Winter. Fall is my very favorite season. October is my favorite color. I love sleeping with the windows open. And crunchy leaves. And apple orchards. But it’s hard for me to be 100% into it when I know what comes after. 5 loooong months of cold temps and relentless snow, sleet and ice. So yeah, you could say I’m dreading it.
  5. What I’m working on:
Lots of wedding planning! Time is flying, and we’re trying to stay on top of things. Just 8 short months until the big day, so there’s always something we can be working on!
  6. What I’m excited about:
So many things! Family time this fall, friends’ weddings, spring flowers (means winter is over), our wedding (!!!), honeymooning in Spain (!!!!!). So much to be excited about.
  7. What I’m watching/reading:
Anyone who knows me knows that, as much as I love to read, I usually have about 4 books in progress and either don’t end up finishing them, or it takes me several months to finish them. And that’s my current situation. As far as what I’m watching, it’s a lot of reality TV. We just finished watching Bachelor in Paradise (somewhat ashamedly), and we’re really into this season of Big Brother.
  8. What I’m listening to:
    This guy:
I love me some piano music, especially while working. It keeps me focused, but is relaxing at the same time. Plus, it baffles me how he just sits at a piano long enough to make these two-hour videos. Talk about life goals.
  9. What I’m wearing:
The same clothes I wore in high school. Seriously. Maybe someday I’ll go shopping. 🙂
  10. What I’m doing this weekend:
Working. I’m headed to Warrens, Wis. for the world’s largest Cranberry Festival where my company is a sponsor! This past weekend though, Amanda and I did an Escape Room with family (they’re a blast – try one if you haven’t already!) on Saturday, and then went to Board & Brush on Sunday for some crafty fun. Don’t worry – we’ll tell you all about it in the coming weeks! In the meantime, here’s a picture from the last time we went to Board & Brush:
  11. What I’m looking forward to next month:

First week of October: I turn 26! Though, the number isn’t real exciting.
Second week: One of my very best friends gets married and I get to stand up in the wedding!
Third week: A Monday night Packers game with Andrew, and then a family getaway at a Cabin on a lake!
Fourth week: A Halloween party at our friends’ house! A fun month ahead. 🙂
  12. What else is new:
Oh boy, I think that’s about it. Feel free to copy and paste these questions and answer them in the comments below! We’d love to hear what’s going on in your world.
