Curb Appeal: A Quick Fix

By: Kristen Finstad

While many home improvement projects seem daunting and expensive, Andrew and I are always looking for DIY projects that are easy and affordable.

We had been talking about painting his front door to add a splash of color to his house. We Pinterest-ed some ideas (my go-to before jumping in to any project), and stopped at Menards after church one morning to look at paints. We ended up finding a dark blue-green that we loved (Pittsburg Paint in “Shores of Tahoe”), and also some new house numbers and a little wooden board to mount them on (found here).

So, all in a day’s work (and for less than $50), we painted his front and side doors, and threw a coat of paint on the wooden board and hung up the new house numbers. It really changed the look of the house! Our next thoughts: some new exterior lighting (black lanterns for more contrast to he house), a new front rug, and maybe a nice fall wreath, and some mums and pumpkins out front. 🙂 Voila!
